I Can Cope

Look Good Feel Better

American Cancer Society-sponsored program. Gives cancer patients the opportunity to see that they can take control of their appearance and are able to approach their disease with greater confidence and self-esteem. Childcare

Baby Care Basics Weeknights 6:30-8:30 p.m., Sundays 9-11 a.m.

Learn how to care for your newborn. This two hour class is for expectant parents, new parents or adoptive parents, grandparents and newborn caregivers. Learn hands on basic care and survival techniques to get through the first months with a new baby. Topics include newborn characteristics and behaviors, common concerns, newborn development and when to call the doctor. Hands on skills for bathing, diapering, swaddling and burping. This class is best taken before the arrival of your newborn. There are two attendance options.

Option 1 – Weeknight: 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Option 2 – Sunday: 9:00 am to 11:00 am

Fee - $25. Fee is per family – register the expectant mother only. Call RES-INFO to register, 877-737-4636.

Fitness and Weight Management

Fit for Life

An 8 week weight loss program with weekly weigh-ins on Wednesdays from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm (if you cannot make this weigh in, you will need to contact the instructor to set up another time/day that you can come and weigh in). Nutritional advice will be given every Wednesdays from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm during the weigh ins by a nutritionist/dietician. We will also have exercise classes (land and water) throughout the week (M-Sat you will receive a schedule the day of the program). This program does not allow you to exercise in the fitness center at your own time. This program only allows you to come to the classes. Prizes will be rewarded at the end of the 8 weeks to the top three participants who lose the most body weight %. First place winner will receive cash pot (winner of this program is subject to fill out W-9 or 1090 forms for tax purposes). Please make payment by cash or check.

It is a system or series of psychological, and physiological self-disciplines that lend themselves to a rebalancing of mind and body. Come and enjoy the relaxation. First class is FREE for NEW participants. For all levels - instructor will work with you! Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. Blessed Frances Room is located on the ground floor of the new hospital building Marian Education Conference room, Entrance B, past Radiology and towards the cafe. Cost: $8 per class or purchase a class card (10 classes for $75.00 or $7.50 per class). First class is FREE to NEW participants. May come to either Tuesday, or Saturday classes or both.

This is a great opportunity to ask questions in order to prevent any fears or anxiety your child/children may have related to your stay in the hospital. At the conclusion of the tour, siblings will receive a certificate and a coloring book about becoming a “big brother” or “big sister.”

This one session class will help couples successfully establish and maintain a breastfeeding relationship between mom and baby. Topics covered include; how breastfeeding really works, first feedings, special situations, the father’s role, going home, common concerns, solutions and treatments, returning to work and breast pumps. This class is recommended in the last trimester.

This class is intended for first time expectant parents who will learn how to prepare for their childbirth experience. Topics covered include what to expect during labor, birth and the post-partum period. Additional topics covered are pain medication options including epidural anesthesia, common medical and hospital procedures including cesarean birth as well as post-partum care for both the mother and newborn. A tour of The Family Birthplace, 3 South Post-Partum Unit and Special Care Nursery are included. This class is taken during the last trimester and provides information and builds confidence in expectant mothers and their coaches. There are two attendance options.
